How much do solar panels weigh? Are they comparable to a skylight or a widow's walk?

Wondering if the panel system weight is a factor we should be considering. Is this a liability? Does the installer cover this risk?

A standard 3 ft x 5 ft solar panel weighs approximately 40 pounds. When paired with the mounting system used to fix the panels to your roof, solar will add about 3 to 4 pounds of weight per square foot on your roof. Your solar installer will assess your roof before installation to make sure that it can handle the weight of a PV system, and qualified installers will offer a workmanship warranty that covers your solar installation.
