Are Srecs extra energy I don't use or can any energy my system makes be turned into SRECs?

This is a deciding factor in if i get solar panels or not

Hi auhals,

For every 1,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity your solar panels generate, a matching SREC is also created. You can sell all of the SRECs from your system, not just the ones associated with excess electricity you don't use. So, if your system generates 5,000 kWh in one year, you have 5 SRECs that you can sell. Check out our page on SRECs for more info.
