I am considering entering into a a solar power purchase agreement (PPA). The company is offering a buyout option at a very low price at about year 7. Would it be a good idea to purchase the system at that point, or should I continue with a PPA till the end of the 20-year term?

If you are considering buying out in just 7 years why not consider the PPA prepaid option? One of the best features about the PPA or lease is that the system is monitored and repaired by them during the term. If you buy it out the term ends and so does the warranty. In year 12-15 for instance there will be an inverter failure if you aren't using micro-inverters.
