It's always been unclear to me what "solarcity panels" really means. Do they make their own brand of panel or do they sell panels made by some of the big manufacturers?

Solar City now Tesla acquired Silevo(a solar panels manufacturer), and they plan to open a factory in Buffalo NY. That plant supposes to be open for production already, but they delayed for mid-2017.
SEC filing 10-K in December 2016: "As of December 31, 2016, our primary solar panel suppliers were Canadian Solar Inc., Trina Solar Limited, REC Americas LLC, Hanwha Q-Cells America, and LG Electronics, among others, and our primary inverter suppliers were ABB Inc., SolarEdge Technologies, Inc., Fronius USA, LLC, Solectria Renewables, LLC and Delta Electronics, among others"
"In December 2016, we entered into long-term agreements with Panasonic to manufacture custom solar cells and solar panels at the Riverbend manufacturing facility located in Buffalo, New York, with negotiated pricing provisions and the intent to manufacture 1 Gigawatt of solar panels annually"
So they will abandon the Silevo technology.
